**New Big Name Comedy Show Announcement!**

**New Big Name Comedy Show Announcement!**

On 8th February 2020 in association with 'Funny Beeseness' we bring you another amazing night of comedy here Live At The Civic!

Henning Wehn
The self-titled "German Comedy Ambassador to the United Kingdom".
This is not the easiest of jobs because Germans allegedly do not have a sense of humour. Henning does not find that funny.
He took office in October 2003 after watching an open mic night that left him convinced that he wouldn’t be all that much worse. Wehn has been performing as the self-styled ‘German Comedy Ambassador’ ever since.
As seen on a whole host of TV programmes including Live At The Apollo, Would I Lie To You, QI, Have I Got News For You and Room 101.

Roger Monkhouse
A consummate stand-up who employs a deadly combination of charm and menace to exert a masterful control over any audience.
A highly original and quirky performer, Roger Monkhouse'`s trademark stage-prowling style and curious, inimitable manner have established him as one of the hottest names on the comedy circuit.
Supremely confident, with audience banter down to an art form, Roger is happy to improvise freely but has no shortage of first class material in his armoury.
A master of observational comedy with a routine that is universally and unfailingly hysterical. A sought after compere and headliner across the UK and internationally.

“Unfailingly entertaining and skilfully able to pull punch lines, seemingly, out of thin air” Chortle

Nige
Lovable scally Nige is the creation of failed singer/musician Keith Carter and saved him from a life of temping.
Nige’s seventh comedy gig was as a finalist for the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2001, since then he has travelled throughout the world, supporting many top comics such as Ricky Gervais and Johnny Vegas. in 2005.
Capital of Culture judge, Sir Jeremy Isaacs was quoted in the news as saying, ‘He helped Liverpool win the bid,’ after seeing Carter’s comic creation and Liverpool cult hero, ‘Nige’ perform at the cultural bid show for the judges.
The two highlights of Keith’s showbiz career are having his one and only single played by John Peel and accidentally knocking George Martin into an ice sculpture whilst drunk. Carter is proficient on guitar, harmonica and piano and can’t believe he is getting away with not having a proper job. He is currently waiting for someone to tap him on the shoulder to tell him it’s all over.

Brierley Hill Civic

Building a vibrant community facility

Brierley Hill Civic Hall has been host to artists, performers and theatre production since the 1960s and is in the heart of our community. In recent years, its usage had dropped while costs have remained or risen. The Hall was often closed during the day and it was not operating at its full potential as a hive for all sorts of activity.

Rejuvenating the Civic

In February 2015, Dudley Council entrusted Dudley CVS with rejuvenating Brierley Hill Civic Hall on an 18-month trial. This is part of Duduley MBC's move to become a 'community council', a council that enables and supports communites to do things for themselves rather than being a body that does things to or for people and communities.

During the trialIn the first two months of the trial, Dudley CVS:

  • built relationships with existing users, schools, colleges, voluntary organisations, promoters, artists, businesses and entertainers.
  • welcomed and engaged anyone who wanted to make great things happen at the Civic. In March 2016, Dudley CVS threw open the doors of the Civic. People who had never been before toured the space, sharing their ideas and inspiration, while past users shared their experiences. Around 60 people joined Dudley CVS to share their inspiration. The report (written and visual) can be viewed at http://tinyurl.com/ocq2ncj
  • shared and held open conversations with the media, residents, colleges, businesses and promotoers. Conversations have been shared more then 200 times online.
Dudley CVS is looking forward to building upon this, to encourage local talent to use the Civic Hall as a showcase for their skills and ensure that the Civic reflects local heritage and is a vibrant community hub for everyone.
